About Us
Our Story
I founded Midnight Editors in 2009 because I wanted to offer a much-needed service for authors: strong, voice-first editing and publishing strategy built on transparency and real support.
What makes my approach different is that I don’t only live in the editing chair. My background includes 20+ years as an award-winning journalist, book editor, and 12+ years working within She Writes Press and SparkPress—two award-winning hybrid publishers—as associate publisher, project manager, and in operations.
Most authors finish their manuscript and immediately hit two walls: “I don’t know what kind of editing I need” and “I have no idea how to publish this.”
I built Midnight Editors as a one-stop shop for authors, to meet you wherever you’re at on your publishing journey.
I’ve shepherded hundreds of books to publication—fiction, memoir, self-help, YA, creative nonfiction—see some of them here!
Hi, I’m Lauren! And welcome to Midnight Editors.

As an advocate for authors, I’ve:
My background includes 20+ years in journalism and book publishing, including two years as Editorial Director at SheReads.com, with bylines in VICE, LA Weekly, and Phoenix Magazine. I’ve interviewed and collaborated with cultural icons like Emily Henry, Nicholas Sparks, Dolly Parton, and Alice Cooper; I love and understand storytelling as both craft and culture.
When I’m not buried in a manuscript or building a publishing strategy, you can find me traveling, reading, enjoying live music, bourbon-tasting, or pretending I’m Gordon Ramsay in the kitchen. I live in Arizona with my family and a steady cast of desert critters.
